The PHLEBOPUMP® Passive Motorized Ankle Dorsiflexion Device
Product Overview - "Walk without Walking"

The PhleboPump® passive motorized ankle dorsiflexion device activates the
natural pumping action of the musculature of the lower legs.  It passively flexes
the ankle joint, thus stretching the posterior muscles of the lower leg and
assisting the movement of blood back to the heart.  This action duplicates the
muscle physiology and venous benefits that occur as if a patient were walking.

The PhleboPump is a passive motorized ankle dorsiflexion device that helps
increase lower limb blood flow.

  • The movement of the paddles of the PhleboPump simulates walking.
  • Use of the PhleboPump has been shown to increase venous blood return
and skin blood flow. 1 (See diagram below.)
  • The PhleboPump is a non-invasive, user-friendly device that promotes
more patient compliance than compression devices.

The PhleboPump can be used to treat and/or help prevent a variety of lower
limb problems:
  • Leg ulcers and wounds
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Leg edema

Use the PhleboPump to help reduce incidence of deep vein thrombosis.

  • Pooled blood in lower limb veins due to leg immobilization can lead to
deep vein thrombosis and subsequent life-threatening pulmonary
    embolism.
  • PhleboPump use promotes venous return of the pooled blood in the lower
    extremities.
  • Passive dorsiflexion with decreased venous pooling in the lower
extremities leads to decreased incidence of deep vein thrombosis. 2,3

Use the PhleboPump to help reduce leg edema.
  • Increased lower limb venous pressure facilitates production of leg edema.
  • Dorsiflexion decreases lower limb venous pressure and facilitates
    reduction of leg edema.
  • Use of the PhleboPump Passive Motorized Ankle Dorsiflexion Device has
been shown to help relieve edema. 4

Diabetic Limb Salvage - Increased Blood Flow is the Key

Passive Motorized Ankle Dorsiflexion Device showing increased skin blood flow
  • 0-8 Minutes shows baseline blood flow with laser sensor flow
meter wrapped around the big toe
  • At 10-20 minutes, with dorsiflexion, skin blood flow goes up
    until dorsiflexion ceases
  • 20-50 minutes, blood flow is still higher than baseline
